and tender mercies;

upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem

The Ethiopian Conversion:

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

And said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

In his humiliation his judgement was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him.

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

The Psalm of Protection

God is faithful, He is always there to preserve and watch over us.

He is our protector.

Psalm 91

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God;
in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from
the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou
trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that
flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor the destruction
that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy right side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High,
thy habitation;

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall
thou trample under feet.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver
him, and honour him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
